July 7, 1993-December 30, 2002
Humphrey had a very busy and full life. He started competing in JRTCC trials
when he was 4 months old. He excelled at racing and was always in the ribbons.
He began his flyball career in 1996 in Ontario, but also ran on teams in Alberta
and then finally in Manitoba. In 1998 he was the height dog that helped to win
the Multi Breed regionals for our club. On August 11, 2001 he achieved the
highest award offered in flyball at that time-Flyball Grand Champion. Upon
retiring from flyball he was ranked at #13 of over 700 Jack Russell Terriers.
In between all of the flyballing Humphrey continued his Jack Russell Terrier
trialing. He won Reserve Veteran Racing Champion, High in Trial Obedience, and
Reserve Veteran Grand Champion, just to mention some high lights.
However, Humphrey's greatest love was hunting and chasing furry things. He did
not enjoy Go To Ground, he would not "mark" the quarry, but if you could give
him something more "worthy" of him, he would give it all he had. In 2001 we lost
Humphrey down a fox hole for about 4 hours before we were able to get him out.
Humphrey has greatly affected the lives of many people and his absence is sadly
felt.
"Not many dogs are worthy enough to fly first class".
